3 months in and I still have no chatter or bad effects on the Exedy stock replacement, but it does slip now and then. I am a little over stock horsepower but nothing serious, so if I was to do this again i would go stage 1. Oh well!

just thought I should post this up...

it slips? how much mileage do you have on this oem replacement random1?

I too went with the Excedy OEM replacement kit since it was nearly 1/3 off of the next cheapest no-name Fenco/Dynapak clutch ($250 vs $700).

I will give my thoughts once its been installed. should be done by the end of this week.

I have about 4000 kms on the new clutch. It is a basic stock replacement kit. I posted it up here already - don't remember the model number off hand.

I've got a exedy stage 1 going in right now with a resurfaced flywheel. Weird that yours slips a bit though.

random1 but basic stock could be anything, unless you mean stock 2002 WRX 230MM or do you really mean stock as in the 225MM kit from the Legacy 2.2T? I have the KSB03/230MM kit from 2002-2005 WRX and it rattles on deceleration

If you really have that 16psi ECU chip then you are not making anything close to stock power. You'll be making at least 300 CHP for sure, considering that STi Version II makes 275 BHP on about 13.64 psi. If you have KSB05 remember it was made for WRX with only 227HP.

crossthatline, what do you mean by "chatter"? It sounds like you might be talking about the same thing I'm having.

It just seems like a weird metal highspeed clank with two pieces of metal? i guess haha its hard to hear over my exhaust but i noticed it alot when i had the stock exhaust its only when im in gear usualy around mid rpms without my foot on the gas once i have my foot even slightly on the gas it goes away

That sounds like the rattling, I have the same thing when my foot is not on the gas, especially in higher gears. The stock clutch never made those sounds.

Subaru and Exedy both agree it is the springs in the clutch disc. Basically this means Exedy is plagued by this, it seems like a 50/50 defect rate or chance that you'll have these sounds. I've read people in the UK complaining of the same thing when even buying the original/stock Exedy.

I'm using the stock/resurfaced flywheel so I don't think the problem is caused by a lighter flywheel (but in general going lighter makes those sounds more likely I've heard).
