Can anyone update with their experience? I believe I read from random1 or someone else that they installed this same kit and don't have any of those bad sounds.
It's too bad but it seems like Exedy's quality control is hit and miss. I e-mailed them about this just now and I'm curious to see what their response will be. The bad thing either way is that if the disc is replaced, the labour is huge unless I do the job myself. If I pay to have it done, I'd probably replace the transmission while I'm at it to a later model GC8 from the Version 5/6 STi. |

Here is Exedy's kind reply:

I just thought I'd update that I'm essentially getting the run around from Exedy.
If you have these sounds with your Exedy clutch, they will do anything but honor the warranty. Basically they're saying I have to remove the disc, and then they'll take a look at it and "decide" if the disc is defective. They already know others have installed the disc on the same car without the noise, and they already know it happened after the clutch was installed, and they know that Subaru has already confirmed it is the springs in the disc too. There's no way I would buy an Exedy again after this. Quote:

Just another update, but I thought I'd warn about Exedy's warranty service.
My complaint about Exedy's warranty is that they're telling me that they wouldn't even consider honoring the warranty unless I send the clutch disc to them for inspection. I've never heard of any warranty issue like this over a clutch from other companies. Is it just me or is it at least impractical to be expected to pay labor to remove the clutch, disabling your car and then wait and see if Exedy will honor the warranty? I think I would definitely look at ACT, Bully clutches or anything else but Exedy just based on the way they treat customers when it comes to warranty. It just seems like they would do anything and make it as difficult as possible to avoid honoring the warranty. |

There's some interesting discussion about GC8 clutches here: http://forums.jdmvip.com/1993_subaru...preza-1814-t-3
