Interested in a certain car or 2, but don't know how to buy.

for the most part, I understand, you won't be able to buy off there. I understand that many of the cars for sale have strings attached - you need the dealer that you buy the car from to do the repairs that are required to bring it up to shaken code. Please understand that this is my meagre understanding, I'm certain that an Importer/exporter will have better input from experience.

I like Goo-net to see what cars should look like, but never to buy personally.

Goo-Net, Trade car view..

I dont trust any of these places.. I use them to look at examples of cars.. but would never buy from any.. I would rather buy from someone that can be held responsible in case something were to happen..

Goo-Net is another Tradecarview/Autotrader kind of site. I guess you'd contact the seller and arrange the payment and shipping like any other Exporter.

I'd be very nervous of doing it given how dishonest the car industry is even in Japan. IMHO the best source of cars is from auction unless you have a friend or can personally and physically inspect one of those Goo-Net cars.

For example they'll often wax the cars so nicely that you couldn't imagine any huge body damage, but often if you contact the seller they might be honest and send you the pics of rust and other huge problems. And of course others won't, you'll just receive a big surprise at the docks.

That's my 2 cents, stick to the auctions and trusted Exporters.

Ya, I agree with Hunter, I've looked at these sites and there is NO way I would buy on behalf of someone with one of those sites. Firstly, they tend to sell at retail prices. Secondly, once you buy it, its yours. There is no way to really judge what you're getting unless you go and see it. GOO net is ok if you're here in Japan, but they are mostly dealers selling at retail prices. GOO net is popular here for people who can go and look, and all the domestic buying regulations are in place. For exporting, its not a good idea, since the client has zero recourse.

Not to mention that Goo-net has some of the most beat-up Japanese cars I've ever seen, and some at absolutely outrageous prices...I thought that beaters didn't exist, then I saw them.. they're at Goo-net and Tradecarview!

GOO-net has some of the most overpriced cars I've ever seen, and a lot of times they are beat up bad like Soren said. For example, they will often wax the car nicely, and park in a nice area and take great shots (while conveniently hiding the bad things).

I saw an example of an STi that looked great on Goo-Net and horrible in normal shots shown on other sites.
