Thumbs down WARNING: Tyee imports in Campbell River is terrible!

avoid tyee imports, they robbed me. i put a down payment on a car that i was going to come pick up. i got there, drove the car, it drove like shit so i said "i dont want it" and they refuse to give me my down payment back! i have been fighting with them for a month and they are being completely horrible to me. soor i will have to resort to legal action and once all those fees are covered i will barely be getting anything back!

Can you give more information? What was the car? What exactly do you mean that it drove like shit? Was it stock that was there already, or was it something you did a deposit on and had picked out, then shipped from Japan.

More details please, and more constructive feedback so we can understand what went on.

Tyee imports is in Campbell River. If you plan to pursue them, at least get the location right. Good luck!

That makes sense, Tyee Salmon! makes sense! There was probably something in the contract about non refundable deposit to hold the car until you settled the final balance. Good cars command premium, cheap cars are cheap, but maybe not in the best of shape, but its still a car!

tyeeimportsrobbedme, sorry to hear about your experience.
I've moved this thread to the Vendor Feedback section.

Yes it's true, like most Importers, Tyee Imports a lot of low grade/accident cars and I haven't read very many good things about them.

I would add a lot more details, facts, and proof to this thread or at least keep your own copies if you're going to sue them.

So far you haven't shown any pics from their site or any info about your purchase or included many details.

If the purpose of this thread is to warn others I really recommend adding more details/facts/proof, that way people can see for themselves.

Once you get everything in order it couldn't hurt to point the company to this thread as well, our site is watched by most of the JDM scene and we get a lot of searches for Tyee Imports each month.

At least he lists the auction sheets, I mean most cars on auction are not the best shape, some people demand ultra clean cars, its nice right? but I'm not one of those people, a cheaper R grade or 3.5 can be cleaned up nice. The last WRX i got was, well, looked like it had been under a sap tree in Tokyo and left outside for 15yrs, but it did end up cleaning really nice! (much scrubbing and wet sanding the gunk off the paint! and painting the car and uhh body fill and, well the list goes on) but it was cheap! (relativly)

I think its pretty standard if you put down a non refundable deposit to forefit it in the future if you decide to pull out of the contract, site unseen buying can be kinda tricky.

Also if you put a car on hold for somone, for say a month, and you could have sold it 4 times and they decide to back out (as many buyers do, their wife gets a hold of them...) there needs to be a penalty, pretty standard right?

Yes, that's true what you said about the auction sheets. I think I mentioned that in another thread about them because it's more than most do. Right now it's a what if, but what if this was one of the rare 3.5-4.0 cars they had and the person asked about the running condition and wasn't told there were problems?

Hopefully the OP includes some more details about this, it's a bit frustrating to see these kinds of threads with almost no information.

If the general story is true that a deposit was placed and this car was in horrible running condition and they found out in person that the car was misrepresented that doesn't seem right.

I was up in Campbell river today, wow what a beautiful town! you're right Ben! Everything is named Tyee!!! all the stores, the schools, it all makes sense! So although it was supposed to be open till 6pm, Tyee was closed, there were a lot of busted cars there, supras missing parts, soarers with parts jammed in them, body parts strewn around the in back, some nice merc's and some skylines, but I sorta though it would more nice stuff, maybe its' not all on premis, also having a mismatched color supra on a trailer with its front end missing the first thing you see on a lot, not the best? maybe Tyee mostly exports cars to the rest of canada and it doesn't matter?

Anyways not sure if this is the place to write this, just my observations, shame nobody was around I could meet and talk to.
