In Alberta there's no difference in price as far as I know.
Here in SK a 95 sti is $1100 a year to plate/insure, a 95 wrx is $900 a year.
^ Plates MAY be going up August 4th 2012 if SGI's new proposal for a 3.7% increase gets approved...looks like most JDM cars are getting an increase too
2005 Subaru Impreza WRX STi
I've heard that the 98 WRX was more popular out of the showroom because it came with the VF22 turbo, which is regarded as a bigger power turbo than the VF23 the STI was equipped with. I own a 98 VF22 WRX now with some mods, and it is a beast. I've got a 97 STI that I will be meeting in Canada in August, so I'll be able to compare the two then!
^VF22 is also considerd the most fragile VF series turbo. Just something to think about if the op looks at a higher mileage example.

I'm like a ticking time bomb then...120,000 kms, EJ20K, VF22, increased power... I even ran over a black cat on my way to work this morning...Time to sell!
^You can always prove the theories wrong?

Its a costly car to own as a student, insurance ain't cheap, gobbles gas, things go wrong, get something more reliable and cheaper to drive while a student grab the fun car when you're more in the working world.

Wait..what!??
Disagree strongly.
Insurance for me has always been about 40-60 bucks a month.
Gas on these puppies for.me has always been about 10L/100km
Things go wrong? That is any car, but I've spent an average of ~500.00 on each subie I've had.
Really, they are great cars, and quite.economical.
Yeah.. but that 10l/100 km's goes out the window very quick at 18psi and having some fun.
