Just to update the VVTi valve didn't resolve this issue. The front plug boot was wet and corroded inside. After spraying it with carbon cleaner and brake cleaner this kind of misfiring went away.

I replaced the entire ignition system and the severe misfiring is still happening I believe around 1500-2000 RPM. I'm going to be replacing the TPS hoping that solves it.

It didn't, the actual issue with the misfires was caused by miswired coil packs from Japan. My idle itself is still low for some reason but it's definitely not a TPS issue.
