Thread: VIN location on BMW and Mercedes

    Default VIN location on BMW and Mercedes

    does anyone know where VINs located on those cars?
    a friend imported Z3 and E class mercedes
    and they could only find one VIN on each car while there should be two of them
    2000 2,5RS stage rally car
    2011 Lexus CT200h - DD

    Unfortunately, a lot of the Euro BMW's only have one VIN.

    E-class is a bit tricky...one on the plate on the driver's door and the other one is underneath the passenger seat on the front edge of the seat. You have to pull the carpet back. I'll take a pic of mine this weekend if I remember.

    are You talking about German cars imported from Japan or from Germany?

    I don't think it matters. Both are made in Germany.

    I have found the Vins on a stick under the Fuse box lid before..

    ICBC was ok with that as a second VIN.. lol

    A lot of the Mercs were built in Japan and do not have a Euro vin.

    As Ryan said the E Class VIN can be found on the floor beneath the seat under a carpet tab.

    thanks for all the replies.
    yes, German cars manufactured for North America market have VINs in different locations than those for Japanese marker

    I'm not familiar with these cars but most Japanese cars tend to have it etched somewhere into the firewall, have you checked with a flashlight? I never found the one on my Impreza for years because it was faint and the paint is white, very hard to see and not solidly etched.
