Question, did you buy it from an exporter here (Japan), if so then he/she should supply a translated copy.

Try there first, if no luck then email me your documents and I will do it next week for you.

Could of guessed, one of the advantages of buying vehicles off dealers on Trade Carview, once they have your $$ you are on your own.

ICBC was being a total PITA on my last car, so I had to get my export certificate translated and certified locally. Try here:

Cost was $120 plus GST

They tried this with my brother, here in winnipeg and we had the translated version from mark. Autopac wanted a translated copy from the Japanese government. So we just left and went to a different insurance company and got it taken care of. Is this something you can do in bc?

Public insurance in BC, so it shouldn't make a difference which location you go to when you want to register/insure your car. Sometimes the person you contact at ICBC will make a difference. I tried twice and got the same result. I just coughed up the money for the translation rather than paying for more temporary permits on my car. Oh, what what do you know....my official translation said exactly the same thing as what Mark provided me with

We have public insurance too and getting the right person is key, someone that willing to put in the effort. I do agree that spending the money verses fighting with them can be less of a headache.

This should be standard operating procedure for exporters. And it only takes about 10 minutes if an exporter has a template set up. We have to do this for all Canada and US export docs. If an exporter can't do it, they are crap.
