Sorry to hear that man. Hope it worked out for you? Maybe if you call Karen she can help you out somehow. But they might be closed for holiday hours too or something.

I called Karen, explained my situation and she was so kind enough to help me out. Picked it up on Monday, drove it to the mechanics in Kelowna on the Tuesday without any issues thank goodness and then caught a taxi to big white! So itís currently at the mechanics getting the work done/inspected, highly recommend city auto Kelowna for anyone interested.

Will post a picture thread when I get a chance

Hi guys, which port are you shipping to? The Japanese auction agent says the options are New Westminster or Vancouver. I'll be flying in to get the car in mid-August, any advice on which is better/more convenient?

New Westminster, I have been told, is the only port used cars go to. So, not really a choice.

What is the usual price difference between RORO and Container?

My car is arriving Aug 22, and I'm at a bit of a loss about who to call. Are WWL and WWS the same thing? Also, what is the number for Karen?

This thread has been good reading but I have a couple questions. My exporter is sending the docs to me directly instead of surrendering, not sure if that is going to save me work or cause me more trouble. How long should I anticipate this process taking me? I have to fly in to Vancouver to sort out customs and pick up the car before driving it halfway across Canada, I'd like to be as efficient as possible in clearing customs and picking the car up.

Who is your exporter. Most surrender the Bill of Lading by default.

WWS is just the new name for WWL.

Shoot her an email at WWSIMPORTS@2WGLOBAL.COM

that boat is landing tomorrow night, she is expecting cars to be release by tuesday.

Thanks very much. She actually called me and I'm just waiting to get in touch again. I'm hoping to fly in this week to clear customs and pick up the car. Is it reasonable to hope to visit customs in the morning and collect the car in the afternoon?

did you get it picked up, normaly they require at least 24 hours from the customs release to when they move the vehicle to the pickup area.

I did get it. I flew in to Vancouver on Wednesday morning, cleared customs and got everything to WWS. They were very quick and I was able to pick it up Thursday morning. It was a quick and painless process, but yeah, you definitely need to plan on overnighting in Vancouver. The drive home went a little pear shaped, one of the cam sensors failed coming over the mountains into Calgary. Fortunately I was able to get the sensor replaced in the 11th hour on Friday afternoon (at "The Gear Shop" in Calgary, great place and very enthusiastic about JDM stuff)and finished the drive home to Winnipeg today (Saturday). All in, a good time and a great story that I can laugh about now that the Legacy is sitting in my driveway.

An amusing aside, I passed 2 cars off the same boat (they had the paint pen "westminster" in katakana on the windshield) with MB dealer plates coming through Medicine Hat. A boxster and big Mercedes sedan. What are the chances?!
