    Default V1 GC8 EJ20G Timing Belt parts

    Hi all,
My V1 GC8 is finally approaching 100,000kms, only 10k more to go. This means its time to do the timing belt. I've searched around and found this list of parts which appears to be accurate for the EJ20G:

    x1 - Gates Racing Timing Belt- GATE-T328RB
    x1 - Older Tensioner, EJ22E/T, EJ18- 13068AA051
    x2 - Smooth Idler Pulleys- 13073AA142
    x1 - Toothed Idler Pulley- 13085AA080
    -x1 - Water Pump- 21111AA026
    x1 - Water Pump Gasket- 21114AA051
    -x1 - Thermostat and Gasket- 21210AA030
    -x4 - Cam Seal 806732150
    x1 - Crank seal - Front- 806733030
    x1 - Crank seal - Rear- 806786040

Can anyone confirm that this list of parts appears correct for the timing belt job? Also includes a few extras that should be done while the front end is taken apart for good luck. Am I missing anything I should order?

The other question I have is, does anyone know of a good source to get most of these parts as a kit? I am pricing this out and the best price so far for the fancy racing belt is amazon.ca, and the rest I've sourced from genuinesubaruparts.com. The total here will be about CAD$650 + shipping which is a bit higher than I was expecting. Any help here is appreciated.

Saskatoon. I guess to save some money here I could forego the water pump and gasket replacements

Has anyone dealt with Z1 Performance before? The price looks good on their kit:

Have you tried locally for these parts? I bought most of mine from Napa.

I would personally try and stick with Subaru and just import cheaply from the USA. For many parts it doesn't matter but for timing stuff I would stick with OEM IMHO.

Let us know how it all goes.

Not sure if anyone has used them but Rock Auto ( www.rockauto.com ) has the best prices ive ever seen. I just did a whack of maintenance on my jetta and had everything shipped to me while still saving about %40 over the same parts being sold at part source. Im pretty sure most of the parts you'll need are applicable from either the 92 Legacy turbo or 2002 WRX. Check it out.

Thanks for that. That site is a bit clunky but I did put together a kit of the following parts that added up to CAD$360 shipped.

    GATES T43204 Hydraulic tensioner
    GATES T41063 Tensioner roller
GATES T42194 Smooth idler (qty 2)
    GATES T42024 Idler sprocket
    GATES K050345 Alternator Belt
    GATES K040350 AC belt

I already bought the Gates T328RB belt through Amazon.ca for about $150

Just a follow up to say that all the Gates parts I listed above are correct for a 1993 WRX. I am now cruising with a new timing belt.

Hey guys I found this useful thread and others around the web but thought I would update and warn that Gates has had many failures and complaints since sometime in 2016 when they went to China based parts.
