Default Winter storage / Battery tenders

I just bought one from Napa cause I store my subie in the winters. First time owning one of these and was wondering if its ok to leave the battery connected to the car while using the tender or do you disconnect the battery ?

I think your best bet would be to leave the battery disconnected. Think of it this way, batteries sit for months or god knows how long on the store shelves and they usually work out of the box (fully charged) and they are just sitting there not connected at all.
