Could you delete all my posts in this thread? I have a solution that uses parking lights and it’s only 1 wire!!!

    Alright... single wire DRL mod:

    1. Open the engine compartment fuse box.
    2. Take the fuse box out of the holder (4 press tabs).
    3. See attached image (left side) -- pull that white harness.
    4. See attached image (right side) -- ground the pin shown.

This mod turns on the parking lights in the headlights when the key is in ON position. The tail lights are also on. They will of course get brighter when the brake is applied.

Single issue -- this mod turns on the dimmer so it will be hard to tell the name of the song you're listening to. Will come back to this when I get sick of this issue and decide to fix it.

Going to try this on a SG9 if I can ever get the images to load

I think the engine fuse box connections are different on SG9s... I give up, gunna let a shop deal with it if future DOT marked headlights also cause the in cabin fuse to pop using fuse jumpers

Thanks GC8, your one wire solution worked perfectly. Just one note; I tried to use a ground wire from another harness in the fuse box, but that caused some sort of buzzing noise when the car's turned on. I ended up grounding it to the bolt just behind the fuse box, and now I've got DRLs. Cheers!

Thanks GC8, I just did this on my fresh-off-the-boat 03 BP5 Legacy wagon and it worked exactly as advertised! I would never have been able to figure out all that wiring myself so thanks for the research you did to figure it all out!
I agree that now the dash lights and display are permanently dimmed and that may need to be corrected later. I have no clue how that could work since the car now thinks the park lights are on so it dims the dash. But I'm happy to have DRLs at the moment!

+1 For everyone in this thread. Got mine working as well this week. Hopefully it needs nothing else to pass the OOP.
